Dear Esteemed Council Members,
As a huge advocate of the parklets, thank you for helping get this fabulous program a permanent aspect of our
downtown. I must say that making the Parklets a permanent feature of our town is a great thing.
That being said, I must say that for an individual owner/operator, the price is daunting. As I look at it, It is going to cost
me $26K to start and $ 17K per year going forward. That's a lot of cash for us. In addition, we are under the
understanding that our parklet, as it sits now, will not be in compliance with the new standards and we will need to
rebuild it to meet the newest standards. Perhaps I am incorrect here, but that is another capital expense that we will
need to come up with.
Perhaps, finding another method of balancing the budget without the individual business covering the entire lost city
parking income, might be a good thing. I say this, in the full understanding that the city budget process, is beyond my
current scope of knowledge.
