Dear Council,
While I live in Arroyo Grande, I work in SLO. It is also where all my health care providers are located. It is imperative that
SLO City, the center of our county, affirm the right to abortion.
I can give many reasons why, but I wanted to give a personal one. My mother nearly died from an ectopic pregnancy. To
save her life, she had to terminate the pregnancies by undergoing an abortion. I was adopted after years for fertility
treatments.
Adoption is an option, but not everyone has that option. Some did not choose to become pregnant. Some did not
choose to engage in the acts that causes pregnancy. Some are told their baby will not be able to survive outside of the
womb when they are finally born.
Pregnancy and birth change a person's body in inumerable ways, and forcing a person to go through with it against their
will, against medical advice, and against their personal, deeply held beliefs is abhorrent.
Please affirm the right to abortion during the meeting on 7/5/2022, item #5G.
