Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. To the Members of The San Luis Obispo City Council, I hope that you do the right thing and affirm the right to reproductive freedom in our county. Anyone- no matter their gender, race, SES, etc should have the right to choose and the right to their own bodies. It is easy for people with religious backgrounds and people (mostly men) in positions of power to claim abortion as “murder” and a sin. Also, for them not to understand the need for late term abortions. I, on the other hand with a background in child and adolescent development learned all I could about individuals from conception on and understand that most abortions are conducted for safety reasons. In these instances, there are often serious risks to both mother and baby if the pregnancy is to be continued. I know that abortion is protected in California, but I think it is important that each county make resolutions like the one you have planned . It is sickening to read that in states such as Idaho and Texas, women who are raped face fines and jail time if they try to abort their baby. Abortion is healthcare and abortion is a right. Please take what I and others have to say to heart when making this decision. Thank you. Sincerely, Chloe Orton Cartnal 1
