Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. I am writing to share with you why I am in favor of the resolution to affirm the Right to Reproductive Freedom in SLO. I was born in 1973, which means a lot of things. But most importantly today, is that it means as a woman, I have never known a world in which I did not have the right to vote or the right to bodily autonomy. I have never been part of any historical women's movement because I've never had to! Those roads were already paved and well traveled by the time I was 18. For the first time in many of our lives, women around my age are getting over the shock of this SCOTUS decision and finding ourselves in an unfamiliar place. And we're trying to figure out how we're going to fix this. I know I can't be alone in my thoughts and feelings. I wonder what one person can do. I want to do something, but what exactly am I supposed to do? I've never been here before--how does all this work? Like anything else--educating myself and finding one thing I can do, doing it, then finding the next thing I can do. What I DO know is that I will not just sit here and be silent. I will not let this go. I'm here for it. I have to do this for all the women in my life and for all the ones that come after me. I ask that you pass this resolution for the Right to Reproductive Freedom in SLO because EVERYONE should have the right to decide for themselves. We can no longer assume rights granted to us by the Constitution will stay.
