Dear SLO City Council,
This email is in regards to Item 5G for the July 5, 2022 meeting.
This is a very important topic and there are so many points, though I will try to keep this brief.
I am in support of Women’s Reproductive Rights and Freedom.

Yesterday was July 4, 2022 our nation’s Independence Day, though it felt pretty grim. I feel saddened and afraid
as an American Woman. I am Pro-Choice, NOT Pro-Abortion. I feel that Women should have a choice on what
is best for their bodies and situations. No woman should be forced to give birth nor should a woman be forced to
have an abortion. That is what Choice is.
…There are so many other social issues that stem from this topic in our society… welfare, homelessness, mental
illness, abuse, etc. There is a domino effect, everything is connected.
I was raised in the Catholic Church. I am an NPP (No Party Preference).
It is unbelievable that Guns/Gun owners, and Rapist have more rights in this Country than Women. Shocking…
I do not understand why Women are constantly victimized. It is beyond sickening that Republicans and some
religious individuals make statements that claim it is Gods will that rape and incest happens to women. That is
disgusting. Then is it not God’s will that a male has erectile dysfunction and therefore he should not take any
medication for this, as it is God’s will. Perhaps these individuals actually worship some being of a dark nature.
What about Free will? In regards to rape and incest (though this is another form of rape), where are the regulations
and strict enforcement on such heinous violent crimes?
If the World and this Country feel the need to control Women’s bodies, then they should control male bodies as
well. Women do not get pregnant on their own. Why do we not regulate the male? Why are males given Viagra
and other erectile dysfunction medication?
The Republican Party has been known for less govt. regulations and greater personal liberty, yet the harsh reality
is that the Republican Party embraces big govt control as long it achieves their political agenda. According to the
Rules of the Republican Party, “The Republican Party is the party of the open door. Ours is the party of liberty,
the party of equality, of opportunity for all, and favoritism for none.” This completely contradicts reality, hence
the reason I am writing to you. The reality is some, if not most, those that are not Pro-choice are actually Pro-
birth.

By taking away Women’s rights, this is not liberty, equality nor does it give opportunity. What is next for
Americans? What other rights will be taken away from Women, people of color and the LGBTQ community?
Will there be a ban on contraceptives? Are we in China, North Korea or Russia?
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic
Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty
to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
It is astounding….to see and witness this Country go backwards.
I could say more, though I said I would try to be brief.
I will be voting for Women rights.
