We have some major concerns that we hope you will address prior to voting. 1) Can the grid handle it? As you have heard from Sacramento and all over the state and country – Our grid cannot handle all electric yet. If we could sustain all electric the Biden Administration would not be working to keep Diablo open, the state legislature would not be considering a bill to extend Diablo’s closure for five years, and the Governor would not be expressing the need to keep Diablo open to continue electricity production and prevent brownouts. 2) Have you considered the all-electric increase per house? We need incentives over mandates. The incentives at https://3cenergy.org/new-construction-electrification/ are only for affordable housing. We need incentives for market rate housing as well. 3) How will the city offset the increase to the price of housing with the new mandates? We are in a housing crisis. The more it cost to produce housing, the less housing will be produced. We need more supply to bring housing prices back down. The median price just surpassed $900,000! Rents are increasing as well. We are already experiencing greater multi-generations of tenants cohabitating, taxing our sewer and water infrastructure. 4) How can the City of SLO improve the balance of increasing housing production during a Housing Crisis with the myriad of expensive environmental mandates in place and arriving soon? 5) If the hydrogen hybrid pilot in LA proves successful, it will be a cleaner source of energy than electricity. We will need the gas infrastructure in place or face being left out on the latest clean energy infrastructure and resources available. We hope you will consider these questions and look forward to hearing from you. Respectfully, Lindy Hatcher Lindy Hatcher Executive Director HBACC 406-750-7682 LHatcher@hbacc.org
