Dear Mayor Stewart and Councilmembers, I write in support of the comments and recommendations made by the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce. The task force who reviewed the proposed IHO amendments include a group of well respected professionals who work to bring housing to the market, whether deed restricted or market rate, and whose recommendations should be seriously considered. I encourage staff include the home building community in discussions to further hone and improve the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance with the goal of crafting language that will allow for more residential units at all price points to be built and delivered for residents. Specifically, I encourage reduction of the $25/sf fee and encourage council to incentivize affordable by design construction with reduced fees for smaller sized units.
