Hello,
Three years ago the planning commission listened to those of us who live in the Anholm
neighborhood, and said no to this project.
A few weeks later the city council under "Mayor' Harmon, hosted a circus of a meeting, totally
disregarding what the planning commission, and the majority of citizens at the meeting wanted.
This evening on next door I opened a discussion about this very dangerous plan ... Perhaps you'd be
interested in what we feel?

Neighbors, so this is really happening....
And this suite photo of a little kid riding along this two way bike path is so
deceiving.
In our neighborhood, especiia[ly on Chorro, between IMission and Lincoln,
there are many driveways.
People will be backing out their driveways, cross two opposing lanes of the
bike line and into busy traffic,..
"whatcould possibly go wrong!?! Someone willl get hurt.
When the discussions over this project were evolving, many of us
recommended the bike path to go over to Lincoln/West, which would be
safer and cheaper, but it was said it would add ONE minute to the
commute.
I'd give up one m,inute to keep a kid safe...

Debbie you make perfect sense . I watch people struggle to pull out
of the Four Seasons hunting store on Higuiera . They can not see the
traffic until they edge into the new bicycle path along with the
concrete barrier to see around the parked cars . One bicyclist was
angry that the vehicle was in the bike lane ( again the onily way to s...

Frankly a, bike lane in, front would be welcome as it can be
difficult to see around the park cars at times. See,

Andrew , my comparison to Higuera was not the sarne thing exactIly,
but more peoplle will be parking in their driveways on Chorro along
the new bike path . The driveways are narrow and difficult to back
into from a busy street and will be difficult to back out of
onto the busy street ."fou will be backing up across bicycl... 3 -,e in,ijr e

This idea, is dumb as hell. This town needs to figure sh-t out. We are
shrinking our streets while hugely increasing our population with the
b0cling of new homes and arguing that bike lanes are the wave of
the future.

Yes, I worry the kids MH have a false sense, of security, plus they sit
so much lower, putting them further at risk.

I'm one of the biggest bike advocates in town and I spoke against
this as an unnecessary expense that adds very little, if anything, to
our bike infrastructure. It's "an improvement" on a stretch w zero
accidents over the five prececliing years. Staff claimed it wound
greatly increase bike commuting. We shall see,

It is a worst possible plain. Chorro should be one way toward
Meinecke and Broad St. one way to Lincoln for both bikes

and cars. This would allow also for parking on one side.... S Ie rJ(We

I agree with ,you, Debbie! I argued for including Lincoln/West on the
bike path - the street I live on - as a much safer Iplan. With
the Chorro pllan, is going through, l'd love to be wrong abo._Se(,,, ulare

Kate Murray we were all there, We had good idleas. And then the
city council did a 180. And as Bob mentioned above none, of them
have the planning experience or expertise.

Try, backing out of your driveway, on Chorro — a nightmare under the
best of circumstances, but especially during the high traffic parts of
the day. Now add trying to spot bicyclists going both directions at
the same time. If you are on the side of the street with parking, try to
see around that huge pickup parked close to your driveway. If the p...

The money should have been used to buy secure bike boxes and
place them at places like Trader Joe's, Madonna Plaza, Whole
Foods.,...
We can't use our bikes if they get stolen!

i This neighborhood needs to show up in large numbers and speak out
at tomorrow's council meeting. Saying nothing only encourages this
and more, like these terrible projects!! This one should NEVER have
been passed!! Residents didn't want it. Speak out please!!

I live in this neighborhood, less than 1 block from the proposed bike
lane on Chorro. I will continue to bike commute downtown via
Lincoln, not Chorro. Why? It's wide, no cars, and no stop signs,.
Lincoln, is also receiving traffic calming measures. All these add up to
a route that is safer, cheaper, and less disruptive to those living on
Chorro.

1 doubt that City stuff read the comments on next-door so if we
could get all these comments to the city Council for tomorrow's
nights meeting it would be wonderful.

AND thisfl There was a, camera set up at the corner of Mission and
Broad and one at the corner of Center and Chorro for the whole
month of June. I wrote to Derrick Johnson asking what that data was
for and could the public be apprised of it. His reply to me was that he
didn't know about any cameras. They were up for a rnonth! The
people that came, to collect them were driving a city car. My
neighbors and I were commenting how many people does it take to
take down one camera? Would love to see that information before
this bike lane goes forward.

The city council majority, who voted for this use of our city tax
doflars listened to NO voices at the city council meetings addressing
safety, traffic, and blind driveways. The overwhelming majority of
speakers against the project at the meetings were 100% Ignored.
You can thank Heidi Harmon and her cronies on the council at the
time,
