Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ Mayor Stewart & Council I am writing as I sit in my home on Chorro street which at times ( in spite of stop signs every 2 blocks) is like a speedway……..I am well aware of the decision before you to close one side of my street ( opposite of me) to accommodate bicycle riders which are very very few….perhaps less than a dozen on an average day…….I doubt seriously if there are anxious potential bike riders waiting for a bike lane so they can take to the road! The possibility of one side of our street being closed for bike riders would put a hardship on the people living on our street…….many of whom have 2 or more cars and only a short driveway to park one vehicle…….having to cross the street with children both leaving and arriving at their homes poses a danger as I have stated this street is often like a speedway……my side of the street will not sustain the number of cars currently parking daily across the way in addition to the ones already here. This proposal, in my humble opinion makes no sense…….& is not a snub to the few people who ride bikes past my house. I understand that 3 people have been killed on their bikes in the past 2 years(?) on foothill blvd where there are no bike lanes & with the newly built student apartments on foothill (several 100 units) I can only imagine that the influx of bicycles going to and from Cal Poly will be increased. I am urging you to rethink what the former mayor & council people who are no longer here proposed and think about the whole picture……..take a look at the bike lanes that have been put in place downtown…..that saying about “if you build it they will come” does not hold true. Thank you for your consideration & you are welcome to come to my home anytime and observe the traffic flow if it will help you better understand my concerns.
