Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear City Council, I'm concerned about staff directing Council to simply "opt out" of a community workforce agreement for the Cultural Arts District Parking Structure, despite it being a major city goal. I further do not understand why there is opposition to using union labor for inspection, testing and surveying services for this project. The "qualified firms" the City retains are not employees, they are consultants. This is supposedly a 5 year work contract for these specific projects--what is the harm in delivering these jobs to labor for this time period? If inclusion of these prevailing wage jobs will allow the Trades to hit the 60% local worker goal, why not do so? I get that there are time constraints, but I urge the Council to do what is right not simply what is expedient. Thank you for your consideration on this important issue, Erin Foote (a proud union employee!) Lawrence Drive San Luis Obispo 1
