Hello & happy Monday Shelly and Greg,
I hope this email finds you well! I am reaching out on behalf of the Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo
(ECOSLO) and our Urban Trees program.
ECOSLO has just finished a very successful year working in collaboration with the City of SLO to plant 120
trees on City streets. We have been working with Ron Combs, the entire City tree crew, Bob Hill, and Cal Poly
faculty Matt Ritter and Jenn Yost.
ECOSLO has recently received another grant to work with the City to plant 240 additional trees over the next
three years. We would like to do some of these plantings in City Parks. We hope this can strengthen the
relationship between ECOSLO and our City partners for years to come.
In the past year since starting our Urban Trees Program, we have received many requests for trees in Throop
Park. Below is a map of the suggested locations for 10 new trees in Throop Park and we would like your
feedback on this potential planting plan.
ECOSLO is able to provide the trees for free and do the planting. We just ask that you would coordinate with
your staff to mow around them and keep an eye on them.
I have attached a letter describing the program in more depth as well as specifics on the tree planting. I have
also included a map as a visual.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have and am really looking forward to the possibility of being
able to share more with you.
Many thanks,
Mary
