Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ We have recently learned about the request from the Housing Authority to clear cut the property at 1422 Monterey St…mostly large mature trees which play a role in good air quality. It seems to us that these trees are mostly on the western edge of the property and should also be kept as a buffer between the proposed building project and the railroad tracks. It appears that our city is once again being subjected to a needless destruction of green space and view shed. Already the views of Bishop Peak and San Luis Mountain has been obliterated by the monstrous student housing projects on Foothill, and a whole block of mature tall trees were ripped out for housing on Luneta, and the views from South Broad St of the east ridge of hills is now hidden by the 4 story buildings going up there. It now appears that Monterey Street is about to feel the effects of this rampant out of scale buildings. Where will it end? In the Monterey St project there must be a way to build the housing and also keep the trees…or at least most of them. Carol and Donley Winger. 2041 Hays St. San Luis Obispo SLO residents since 1965.
