1. 2023-25 COUNCIL GOAL SETTING PROCESS 25 mins
The City’s Principal Budget Analyst, Natalie Harnett will present the 2023-25 Financial
Planning process including the instructions for Advisory Body input for the City Council goal-
setting portion of the effort.

marketing activities for the SLO TBID.

2021-22 annual report for submission to Council and recommend the continuation of the
TBID for fiscal year 2022-23, with the following changes:
• A note about the new hotels had that opened.
2. FY 21-22 PAID MEDIA BUDGET CARRYOVER CONSIDERATION
Hayley Corbett, Noble Studios reviewed remaining paid media funds from FY 2021-22.

fees this fiscal year.
3. CCTC DIGITAL CO-OP CAMPAIGN CONSIDERATION
Tourism Manager Cano presented the co-op packages for the Central Coast digital
advertising campaign in partnership with CCTC and within the available TBID co-op budget
for the Board’s review and approval.

ACTION: By consensus the Board provided consensus comments regarding hosting an
event to provide information to the other properties about what the TBID is doing. Members
Patel, Bates and Keller volunteered to serve on a planning committee. The Board also
asked Tourism Manager Cano to assign remaining liaison properties.

Paid search drove 31,696 impressions (a 15% decrease PoP), 5,087 clicks (a 11% decrease PoP), a
16.05% CTR (a 5% increase PoP) and 5,454 sessions (9% decrease PoP)while driving 65 Book
Now Conversions, 1,060 hotel referrals and 13 homestay referrals at 3% decrease in cost.
Paid social drove 1,250,509 impressions, 328,133 users reached and 14,173 clicks across
Facebook and Instagram with a 1.13% CTR for FB/Insta (a 10% increase PoP)for 4,445 sessions (a
39% decrease PoP)while driving 1 Book Now referrals,7 things to do referrals and 28 hotel
referrals at a 34% decrease in cost.
Display drove 1,192,899 impressions, 6,020 clicks,a .50% CTR (a 18% increase PoP) and 6,921
sessions while driving 57 hotel referrals, 5 things to do referrals and 1 Book Now conversion at a
43% decrease in cost.

Email Marketing
The August newsletter went out on Sept. 14 with the main topic of California Wine Month and where
to sip and stay. We delivered this newsletter to 29,556 recipients, of whom 9,677 (33%) opened the
email. This delivered 301 unique clicks. The Wine Month promo was most clicked, with 124 visits,
followed by 98 clicks for the Summer Sips page. 88 clicks went to the SLO Events page, while 31
went to the hotels page and an additional 31 clicked on the SLO instagram link.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & Content Creation
Organic search traffic decreased 11% period-over-period and decreased 8% year-over-year.
Organic hotel partner referrals increased 79% (338 vs 189), Book Now decreased 40% (38 vs 63)
and Homestay referrals decreased 57% (10 vs 23) year-over-year (September 1-31, 2022 vs
September 1-31, 2021). We saw a .4% decrease in Avg Session Duration, a .1% increase in bounce
rate and a 3% decrease in pages per session PoP and 8% decrease in sessions, 2% increase in
bounce rate, 6% decrease in pages/session and a 10% decrease in avg. session duration YoY for
organic search.
Overall keyword rankings on the search engine results page increased 12% in September and page
1 keywords increased by 17%, compared to the previous period. In September, we saw additional
positive PoP growth for many of the pages we have optimized including: a 83% increase to the
Breakfast in SLO page, a 24% increase to Wineries, a 30% increase to SLO Airport page, a 9% to
Downtown SLO restaurants, 27% increase to homepage, a 12% increase to the SLO Movie Theater
page and 19% increase to Bus to SLO page.

The website saw a 42% decrease in sessions period-over-period (September 1-30, 2022 vs August
2-31, 2022)and a 6% increase YoY; for a total of 38,884 sessions and 31,193 new users in
September. From an engagement perspective, bounce rate positively decreased by 6% and
pages/session increased by 8% and average session duration increased by 17% PoP. The largest
decreases in traffic stemming from Paid Search, Display and Direct were due to the Midweekend
promotion ending.

Hall 990 Palm Street.
