Please distribute & include with Agenda Correspondence. Thank you. Architectural Review Commission: Please save the mature trees (Redwoods etc.) at 1422 Monterey Street. Despite the City of San Luis Obispo's claim to fight Climate Change they allow the removal of mature trees all over town in exchange for huge, ugly buildings. The City instead allows developers to plant tiny saplings as replacement trees which, as you know, will not sequester nearly the carbon that the large mature trees would for many, many years. The City is quickly allowing the destruction of our precious Urban Canopy while merely paying lip-service to the critical issue of Climate Change. Why not incorporate the mature trees into the project's design? Are architects using computer-design instead of their brains & skills? This needs to be stopped for the sake of our community & our planet. I went to Physical Therapy 3 times a week for a few years & parked at the Palm St. upper portion of this site & was amazed to see the beautiful trees every time I visited, especially the Redwoods & the wonderful avian habitat they provided. Please help preserve these beneficial, wonderous 54 trees by denying the removal & recommend a redesign. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, 1 Cheryl McLean San Luis Obispo 2
