Dear Tree Committee members -- first of all, thank you for your service on behalf of the community in attending to our
city's trees. Item 4.b on the Tree Committee's October 24 meeting is an application for the removal of a palm at 64 La
Entrada. We've lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years and for as long as we can remember "Barney" (that is, a long
line of resident barn owls) have used this tree for roosting. It has always been fun and interesting to peer into the fronds
to observe the latest occupant. While we do appreciate the applicant's plumbing problems -- we too have had such
problems with trees from time to time -- we think that the loss of this picturesque tree and long standing barn owl habitat is
not warranted. Ongoing maintenance of the rental unit's plumbing would seem a more appropriate solution. Thank you for
your consideration.
