Dear SLO City Council Members,
I'm writing to you today representing SLO County UndocuSupport, regarding the DEI High Impact Grant.
We’re grateful for the Human Relations Commission recommendation to fund our community forums and
direct aid program. Your support will help some the most vulnerable in our city who have been excluded
from many programs and services due to their immigration status as undocumented immigrants.
Undocummented and mixed-status immigrants are contributing members of our community who work, live,
and attend school among us. We appreciate your support to help provide a safety net through our direct aid
program and to identify barriers to accessing services through our community forums.
We’re looking forward to your funding approval at today's City Council meeting. We pride ourselves in being
a coalition of local organizations and concerned individuals who provide support for local immigrant
families, listed here below the current members of our Leadership Council:
Biz Steinberg - Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County
Rita Casaverde - Diversity Coalition San Luis Obispo County
Wendy Wendt - First 5 San Luis Obispo County
Lisa Fraser - Center for Family Strengthening
Erica Ruvalcaba-Heredia - Promotores Collaborative of San Luis Obispo County
Adrienne Garcia-Specht - Central Coast Coalition for Undocumented Student Success (CCC-USS)
Gina Whitaker - Allies for Immigration Justice
Quinn Brady - Community Advocate
Joel Diringer - Community advocate
Please let me or our Program Manager, Chelsea Ruiz at undocusupport@cfsloco.org, with any questions.
Sincerely,
CCd: SLO County UndocuSupport Executive Council.
