Members of the commission,
We own a parcel and operate businesses at 805 Morrison, directly across Morrison
from the proposed project.
We have some initial comments/questions on what little we know about the proposed
project. We appreciate your thoughtful consideration.
1. We did not receive notice of the hearing today. We would like to understand
that for future correspondences/communication.
2. We believe manufacture zones in the city of SLO should be used and
protected for commercial uses. Are we (city policy) pushing small business
out of the city limits?
3. McMillian is currently overparked. We would encourage you to take a look
during weekday business hours. This street does not appear to be a safe
corridor for persons walking or biking yet, we can’t afford to lose parking
spaces to a bike lane. Compare McMillan to the streets in the new
developments on Broad across from the airport and on Tank Farm.
4. The traffic at the intersection of McMillan and Orcutt is already busy.
5. In our opinion, allowable business and commercial uses in a manufacture
zone are not compatible with residential uses. We typically have employees
start work at 6:30 am.
6. Do the police and fire departments have comments?
7. Does the railroad have comments?
8. The project would need to protect large vehicle access and turning
capabilities as the commercial neighbors require these type vehicles daily.
Sincerely,
Greg Moore
Gary Foster
