WHEREAS, the Workforce Development Board of San Luis Obispo County, the San Luis Obispo County
Office of Education and Construction Trades Unions in San Luis Obispo County Including the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 639 & Pipe Trades UA Local 403 have partnered
to expand apprenticeship opportunities and head of household jobs in the Construction Trades in
San Luis Obispo County; and
WHEREAS the advancement and well-being of (Insert Jurisdiction Name), San Luis Obispo County,
State of California and United States of America depends upon the continued development of a
skilled and trained workforce in the building & construction trades; and
WHEREAS, an ever growing number of job creators and career seekers are discovering the
benefits of apprenticeship’s unique learn-while-you-earn model; and
WHEREAS the (Insert Jurisdiction Name) recognizes that robust apprenticeship programs provide
tangible value to both job creators and apprentices, with the potential to increase productivity,
improve diversity and inclusion, and reduce recruitment and training costs while providing a
pathway to prosperous careers for job seekers.
WHEREAS National Apprenticeship Week which is celebrating its 8th anniversary of raising
awareness of the vital role apprenticeships provide in creating a qualified and highly skilled
workforce in the building & construction trades in (Insert Jurisdiction Name), the County of San Luis
Obispo and across the nation; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Erica A. Stewart, Mayor of the City of San Luis Obispo on behalf
of the entire City Council recognize National Apprenticeship Week from November 14 to 20, 2022 in
the City of San Luis Obispo.
