Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Chair Kahn, Vice Cair Hopkins, and commissioners, I would like to leave a comment on agenda item 4a for the meeting on November 16th, 2022. It will start below: How can San Luis Obispo claim to be a welcoming, safe, and equitable city when there are just literally not enough housing units for the city residents? From 2010-2020 San Luis Obispo's population growth outpaced our residential unit construction. This doesn't even account for the high cost of a median unit in SLO; if someone may be able to find a unit the other question is then can they afford it? The planned construction at 1422 Monterey Street is a good step in the right direction. It will build needed affordable units and provide construction jobs and retail opportunities in the mixed-use space below. As a college student, I can say that my 2 bedroom apartment rent in SLO is more than what my Mom was paying for a larger two-bedroom condo in Los Angeles, it's ridiculous. I urge the planning commission to support this project. Best, Ethan Gutterman He/Him/His Pronouns 3rd Year Honors History Major, EPPST Minor Panetta Institue Congressional Intern 1
