10 TALL
INITIATIVE
Pillar 6, Natural Solutions of the
City’s CAP, has the work plan to plant
10,000 new trees by 2035.
Trees will be planted by residents,
community members, and the City.
Trees are expected to be planted in
Parks, vacant tree sites, private
property, and primarily open space
riparian zones.
Open Space and private property
plantings will result in the lowest cost
maintenance.
The Ideal Urban
Forest
•Streets are fully planted with the appropriate species at the appropriate
spacing
•Age and species diversification
•Tree maintenance is performed at appropriate intervals
•Infrastructure is appropriate to support the adjacent trees
•Parks are lined with trees in the correct locations that allow for both
shade, relaxation, and outdoor recreation
•Open Space is planted and maintained with numerous trees
•The tree canopy is increased and meets community expectations
•When trees fail, they are immediately replaced with he correct tree
•Development occurs with trees considered and impacts mitigated
