City Council Members: Despite the City of San Luis Obispo's claim to fight Climate Change the removal of mature trees all over the City is never-ending in exchange for huge, ugly, poorly-designed buildings. The City instead allows developers to plant tiny saplings as replacement trees which, as you know, will not sequester nearly the carbon that the large mature trees would for many decades (not to mention the carbon released when the mature trees are slaughtered). The City is quickly allowing the destruction of our precious Urban Forest/Urban Canopy while merely paying lip-service to the critical issue of Climate Change. Your climate work plan needs to greatly strengthen the preservation & protection of our city's mature trees. Please help preserve the environmentally beneficial trees by denying their routine removal. What a shame that San Luis Obispo is no longer a true "Tree City" but the exact opposite. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Cheryl McLean San Luis Obispo 1 2
