Honorable Mayor Stewart and Council:
I applaud the City for embarking on the path to an aggressive Carbon Neutral Goal. I support adaptation of
the Climate action plan.
The City staff pursuing the plan are excellent and are the type of skilled and dedicated idividuals needed to
accomplish the ambitious goal. Please support their efforts
If you are to achieve your climate goalsl, you need to have a voice outside the city. For example, the CPUC
is considering a new Net Metering Program that dramatically reduces the incentives for rooftop
solar. This will cut residenrtial and commercial installations in half when we should be doubling or tripling the
rate of installations. Residents and businesses are willing to invest in solar as part of the fight against climate
change and solar investment is also linked to EV adoption and resiliency.
While it would be great if 3CE took an active role in supporting rooftop solar and was this voice, unfortunately
this will not happen. For example, 3CE’s initial draft rate structure penalized solar users. 3CE only promotes
increasing electricity use and not energy efficiency and not local renewable energy..
Please consider having the city speak out on statewide issues that will adversely impact the climate action
plan.
Thank you for your time.
