Staff has done a tremendous job on the Work Plan and activities. The framework, analysis, actions, and overall organization of the document and work plan is exemplary and provides a path forward for other Central Coast cities that are following City of San Luis Obispo’s bold plan and actions. After San Luis Obispo voted to move forward with a Carbon Neutrality by 2035 goal, CEC has been working with many other cities on the Central Coast to strengthen their goals. The City of Santa Barbara voted to move forward with a similar Carbon Neutrality by 2035 goal. The County of Santa Barbara enhanced their 2030 target to 50% reductions from 40%. CEC is analyzing and commenting on recent or upcoming Climate Action Plans from the County of Ventura, County of Santa Barbara, and cities of Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, and Camarillo. San Luis Obispo’s goal and work plan is a trailblazing roadmap that is being emulated by other local governments. CEC supports the City in moving forward with climate action as fast as possible. Keep up the fantastic work! Sincerely, Michael Chiacos Director of Climate Policy
