It is so cool to have protected bike lanes on Marsh and green buffered lanes on Higuera, among other things. My son can go from the Laguna side of town to SLO High on almost entirely protected infrastructure now, which is a dream for parents like me who don't have to drive him through traffic across town to school now! I know this has been a long process and I'm so grateful for all of your efforts. One quick note on the protected bike lane on lower Higuera. I think the green lane is alerting everybody to look for bikes on most of upper and middle Higuera through downtown, but there is a lot of traffic (both foot and car) crossing the bike lane between Sandy's Liquor, and Fred and Betty's. Mostly in front of the Creamery. I've almost had accidents both with pedestrians stepping into the bike lane to get to their parked car and not looking for bikes, AND from cars doing right-hook turns into the Creamery lot. I think it would make pedestrians and drivers more aware to look for bikes if the green lane was extended past the Creamery and ended somewhere near Fred and Betty's or Higuera Terrace Apartments. I also think the bollards and rubber curbs that are installed in front of House of Bread and other places on Marsh would be good to install at the Creamery parking lot entrance so that people have to make more of a 90-degree right hand turn rather than a sweeping arc. Just my $0.02 on how to make that zone, which has a lot of foot/bike/car traffic, a bit safer. Thanks! Ken Kienow 805-441-4660 kenkienow@gmail.com 1
