1. CALL TO ORDER
A Special Meeting of the San Luis Obispo City Council was called to order on
December 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 990 Palm Street, San
Luis Obispo, by Mayor Stewart.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Council Member Shoresman led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS ON THE AGENDA ONLY
Public Comment was taken when each item is called.
4. PUBLIC HEARING ITEM
4.a RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Deputy City Manager Greg Hermann and City Clerk Teresa Purrington
provided the staff report and responded to Council questions.
Motion By Vice Mayor Christianson
Second By Council Member Pease
Adopt Resolution No. 11378 (2022 Series) entitled, “A Resolution of the
City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo, California, reciting the facts of
the General Municipal Election held on November 8, 2022, declaring the
results and such other matters as provided by law.”
Ayes (5): Council Member Marx, Council Member Pease, Council Member
Shoresman, Vice Mayor Christianson, and Mayor Stewart

5. PRESENTATIONS
5.a RECOGNITION OF OUTGOING VICE MAYOR CARLYN CHRISTIANSON
Mayor Stewart presented Carlyn Christianson with a Certificate of
Recognition for her service as Vice Mayor and a read Proclamation for her
dedicated public service and commitment to the community while on City
Council.

5.b OATH OF OFFICE FOR MAYOR-ELECT AND COUNCIL MEMBERS-ELECT
City Clerk Teresa Purrington administered the Oath of Office to the Mayor Erica
A. Stewart, and Council Members Michelle Shoresman and Emily Francis.
6. APPOINTMENTS
6.a VICE MAYOR APPOINTMENT FOR 2023 (Estimated Time: 10 minutes)
City Clerk Teresa Purrington provided the staff report and responded to
Council questions.
Motion By Council Member Pease
Second By Council Member Shoresman
Appoint Council Member Jan Marx to serve as Vice Mayor for a one-year
term commencing upon appointment.
Ayes (5): Council Member Francis, Council Member Marx, Council
Member Pease, Council Member Shoresman, and Mayor Stewart
CARRIED (5 to 0)
7. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m. The City Council will hold a Special
Meeting on December 13, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City
Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo. The next Regular Meeting of the City
Council will be held on January 10, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambe rs at
City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo.
