Sadly, I was raised with the values of DEI but I’ve come to associate the current DEI programming as “DEI
for preferred minorities (with the exclusion of Jews unless it pertains to the Holocaust)”.
So, needless to say, I don’t support this effort. My last two experiences with DEI were of my daughter
being told “she could choose what she let upset her” when she experienced antisemitism from her
fellow students at school and asked for support from DEI and with the Cal Poly’s DEI literally funding a
panel including two blatant antisemites who stereotyped Jews with ancient antisemitic tropes and
classified Jews as “white supremacists”. This is becoming a nation- wide phenomenon and it’s especially
so in CA.
I’m Incredibly disappointed with this coalition. I reached out with my concerns a few years ago when
antisemitism started spiking and was met with a complete lack of empathy and understanding, least of
all action. Maybe you should check out the latest FBI statistics on antisemitism and re evaluate your
priorities and response.
Please take me off your mailing list.

Dear Danya,
The city of San Luis Obispo has been an instrumental partner in the work to advance
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in our county. Their support has helped
organizations like ours, develop programs for the community that highlight the
importance and strength of our county's diversity.
If you live, work or shop in SLO City, you can help us make sure that the City of SLO
continues to work on making San Luis Obispo a more welcoming and inclusive city for
all. We all know there's so much more work to do! We can't stop now.
How can you help?
SLO City is currently updating their Major City Goals, and it would mean a lot if
you took a couple of minutes to kindly ask the SLO City Council to keep DEI as a
top priority during the 2023-25 fiscal years.
Email them at emailcouncil@slocity.org by Tuesday, Jan 10th at 2:30PM.
Include in the subject line: Public Comment - Agenda Item 6.b - Keep DEI a top
priority
You can expand on your relationship to the city (live/work/shop/etc), elaborate
why DEI is important to you, or you can leave it super short.
If 20 people send an email, we could capture the council's attention. If 200 people send
an email, we can make an important statement. Can you help us? Share with others!
Sincerely,
