Dear City Council Members:
The City of San Luis Obispo has been instrumental in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles
and practices in our region. As you consider your Fiscal Year 2023-2025 budget priorities this evening (Item
6.b), we ask for your continued leadership and funding support of important DEI initiatives and community
partners in SLO CAL.
Visit SLO CAL is the destination marketing and management organization for the county. We are committed
to ensuring that our DEI work supports a more equitable and inclusive destination for our 1.7 million visitors
each year. Our work also supports our vision of maintaining and bettering our resident’s quality of
life. Working collaboratively with the City of SLO and non-profit community partners like the Diversity
Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, we’re building and maintaining an inclusive community where all people
feel welcome and comfortable to visit and live. We have much more work to do to achieve our collective
vision, and we must continue to prioritize our DEI advocacy efforts built on our shared values.
Your commitment and support for non-profit organizations like the Diversity Coalition is an essential part of
our collective DEI work. To continue strengthening our larger SLO CAL community, we respectfully urge the
City of San Luis Obispo to keep DEI as a top priority during the 2023-25 fiscal years.
On behalf of Visit SLO CAL, we thank you for your consideration of our request and your continued leadership
in DEI.
Yours truly,
Tracy Campbell
