Dear City of San Luis Obispo City Council Members,
I am writing to express my support for the continued prioritization of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in
San Luis Obispo. I believe that our community is strongest when everyone is treated with fairness and respect,
regardless of their background or identity.
As you know, DEI encompasses a wide range of issues and policies, from hiring practices to community
engagement to the provision of city services. I urge you to continue to make DEI a top priority in all aspects of
city governance, and to take an active role in ensuring that all members of our community feel welcome,
valued, and represented.
In particular, I would like to highlight the important leadership that the City of San Luis Obispo has had in the
county in creating a community that is welcoming of all people regardless of whether they are a resident,
tourist, or employee working within the city. I believe that this leadership is invaluable in our community and is
crucial in promoting true equity and inclusion in San Luis Obispo.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing the city council's continued efforts to
promote DEI in our community.
Thank you,
Matthew C. Pennon, EMPP
