I have a rich family history in San Luis Obispo.
My great, great, grandparents lived at the “Loma Adobe” on Lizzie Street. My great grandfather was born there and my
grandmother visited and played there as a child. I remember her sharing stories of playing with other children at the
adobe. She remembered one of her friends was running down the hill, and tripped and landed in the midst of cactus
near her grandparents’ home! Until recently, I did not know of this home. And the cactus is still there!
My great great grandmother was Maria Concepcion Boronda Deleissegues Muñoz, (“Chona”) and my great, great
grandfather was Jose Maria Muñoz.Their son was Jose Guadalupe Muñoz, my great grandfather. Daughter, Alice was my
grandmother.
I often take my family to Lizzie Street to look at the adobe and its grounds. It is a valuable connection to the history of
my family, and to the citizens of San Luis Obispo. Let’s continue to preserve it.
I thoroughly appreciate the efforts of the people who are caring for this historic building.
I hope the City of San Luis Obispo will continue to support the La Loma Adobe and its restoration.
Thank you
