Dear City Council,
I own property near the Pismo Hillside, and I'm writing to ask that the Council please budget for the completion of the
Pismo Hillside project. I understand this has been 15 years in coming and is identified as a current need. The latest rains
and rock movement along the hillside should propel this project forward. I’m no geologist but delaying seems fraught
with peril.
The effects of rain and potential for an earthquake present obvious concerns. But the roots and vegetation on the hill
creep into crevices and pry the rocks apart. More rain means more growth. More growth means more potential for
rockslides.
Fixing the Pismo Hillside will allow for re-opening of the sidewalk and restoration of many parking spaces, which are
both hard to come by and a potential revenue source for the city, if metered, which I would support.
Sincerely,
Bill Bartlett
