Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ Tree Committee: It is egregious for these applicants to ask to slaughter 54 trees on this property. If they can’t save the trees, they shouldn’t be able to do their project. Even if you do what you’ve usually done lately (favor the rich in this community—and don’t use the “affordable housing” ruse) and approve the slaughter, RATHER THAN ALLOW THEM TO REPLACE THESE WONDERFUL, MATURE TREES WITH TWIGS, FORCE THEM TO PUT IN 25-GALLON TREES—TREES THAT HAVE A CHANCE OF BEING SUBSTANTIAL SOON. The usual twigs you approve—the deceitful “15-gallon” ruse—you know and I know that a 15-gallon is usually a twig— make them put in big trees. I checked with nursery: a 15-gallon is about $100 and a 25-gallon is about $250—that’s $150 extra per tree. Multiply 54 by $150 and you get $8100. For a mere $8100 extra, this mega-million-dollar project can plant viable, useful trees, not twigs that are useless for YEARS. Do the right thing. DON’T approve the removal at all. Even if you roll over and approve the removal, replace the trees with real trees, not twigs. Will Powers 1
