DISCUSSIO N Council Policies and Procedures and the Advisory Body Handbook prescribe the method o f Council Liaison Subcommittee assignments : 6.1 .1 The Mayor and Vice Mayor shall submit recommendations to the full Council rotating nominations for Council Member Subcommittees, thereby ensuring an opportunity for each member to serve as liaison at least once o n • each advisory body, when possible . When terms of office do not allow eac h member to serve once, members with greatest seniority shall have first righ t of selection (CP&P 6.5 .2, ABHIII, C, 6). The City Clerk made recommendations for appointments considering the preferences o f individual Council Members and the past several years' appointments ; Mayor Marx and Vic e Mayor Smith have reviewed the City Clerk's recommendations and recommend the Counci l Liaison Subcommittee assignments as outlined in the attachment . As in past years, automatic rotation for all technical and regional committees is not bein g recommended . The recommended appointments allow for continuity where appropriate as wel l as permitting Council Members to develop a higher level of expertise for some of the mor e complex committees .
