Craig,
Use the trail that in your opinion is closest to the intent of the of the Class 1 bike path (taking into account the
sensitivity of the drainage channels). It appears the alignment currently on the plans may do that, but you have
the best understanding of it during the design layout. Please provide a letter and exhibit outlining all the
discrepancies between the proposed bike path and a Caltrans Class 1 bike path with the next submittal. We
have kept a copy of the trail Central B design for our supporting documentation.

Ken,
Attached includes the trail alignment as shown on the current set of an improvement plans (Trail Central A) and a third
option for the trail alignment (Trail Central B). Trail Central B is a draft exhibit that illustrates trail geometry that closely
represent the design constraints outlined in the Caltrans HDM for class 1 trails. Crossing the drainage course by lot
138/139 is not an option as it would require a bridge, additional wetland mitigation and permitting through the various
regulating agencies, impact at a minimum three private lots, and divert traffic through a private driveway. Please review
each layout and select the preferred alignment. Once the city selects an alignment, I will prepare a letter outlining all
discrepancies between the layout shown on the plans and the HDM as requested on the recent plan check.
Thank you,
Craig
