Dear Mayor Stewart and Council Members, Please consider realigning the segment of the North Chorro Greenway Project along Chorro between Mission and Lincoln, by shifting the bike route to Lincoln. Not only would this result in significant savings, but would provide a much safer and more pleasant bike route. I am a cycle commuter with an 8 year old. We live less than one block from the Chorro portion of the Greenway. The two-way cycle track proposed for Chorro forces cyclists to travel on the wrong side of the road which requires a heightened sense of driver and rider awareness to avoid hitting other cyclists head-on and to avoid collisions at driveways and intersections. Even if constructed in the current configuration, we will continue to ride downtown via Lincoln, as it is wider, safer, essentially free of traffic and stop signs, and is faster and more convenient than Chorro. The disruption to residents on Chorro who will lose their parking, coupled with the large increase in cost makes the Lincoln alternative a more responsible alternative for all City residents. It would have zero impact to local residents, and would still achieve the goal of providing a safe route for cyclists. The most expensive solution is not always the best solution. Thank you 1
