Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Mayor Stewart and council members, Following is a letter I wrote to the bike coalition, in response to their message to members, including a template as to what to write to you. (Expect a lot of identical messages) It’s very dismaying to read what they think of anyone who has an opposing/alternative view. I hope you’ll give equal consideration of our Anholm residents, as you do to those who simply pass through. Lincoln was always the best solution, but the bike coalition won’t be happy until they disrupt our neighborhood permanently. Thank you for your leadership, Debbie Anthony Anholm resident Good rainy morning to you, I was dismayed to see your recent message to your members/“call to arms”, complete with a template, so the council can get the same message over and over again prior to the March 9 meeting. It’s equally dismaying to see that you view some of us as “opponents”, instead of fellow neighbors who want what’s best for the majority. Five years ago I was also labeled, by one of your members, as “outspoken, retired, upper middle class” in a Tribune editorial, without that member knowing anything about me. What I am is a 67 year old, widowed, mom of 3 raised in this neighborhood, doting grandma of 5, bike rider, adventurer, and retired nurse. And although many of you see your “opponents” as obsolete, it might be good to remember that many of us have been here for decades. We are retired nurses, doctors, teachers and volunteers, giving of our time, sweat and resources to help make this community so special. We have a lot of life experience, and it’s too bad we can’t be seen as resources. I’ll never understand why the simple, inexpensive solution to a bike path along Lincoln didn’t seem acceptable to many of you. And why you’re so hell bent to get this unnecessary, disruptive project done through a safe part of town, while people are dying on Foothill, and nothing is being done. 1 So, make sure you all copy and paste the message sent out to you, parade your kids through the meeting, have them read what you write for them, wear your bike helmets, and by all means, make sure the guy with the bent wheel parades around the room again. I won’t be there, one circus was enough for me… See you around the neighborhood, Debbie Anthony 2
