To the San Luis Obispo City Council concerning the north Chorro neighborhood greenway project.
I am a resident of the 200 block of Chorro St and for nearly all trips downtown my family and I either walk or ride our
bikes -the only exception being when we plan to purchase items too unwieldy to carry. In my opinion, the proposed
North Chorro Neighborhood Greenway Project does not make sense from a neighborhood quality perspective nor from
a bike+car traffic perspective, nor from a parking perspective, nor from a neighborhood beautification perspective. The
alternative to route the bike traffic along Lincoln street up until the intersection of Lincoln and Chorro is much
preferable due to the lower negative impact on the aforementioned values and I would expect it would be a much safer
route as well -has that analysis been done?
I suggest the plan refocus on making the Chorro & Lincoln intersection best for bikes, improve the route on Chorro
under the overpass, and route bikes along Lincoln. This should also greatly reduce the cost of the plan -a cost which has
drastically climbed for a project of negative value and likely poor safety.
