As a resident of the City, and the Anholm neighborhood I am both shocked and disappointed that the City would place
this item on the consent agenda. This project was approved at under $ 1.5 million and now a contract is being proposed
over $6 million with provision for authorization of additional sums. This project has been highly contested from
inception and is now at a cost 4x as originally claimed.
Much of the project is simply unwarranted and dangerous. The lanes on Chorro crossing many driveways is a disaster in
the making for riders. The removal of street parking will cause serious issues for residents of all ages and abilities
including garbage cans mid street and delivery services simply stopping in the traffic lanes to make deliveries.
I urge the Council to pull this item from consent and direct staff to consider the lighting improvements for the freeway
underpass, continued upgrading of ADA sidewalk corners, and conduct a trial of the previously proposed Lincoln St. at
Chorro to West to Chorro route.
The amount of bike traffic doesn’t warrant the expense and the City will be endangering it’s residents. The issue of
Foothill Blvd. screams for review and action and is more deserving of financial support.
In light of the bike coalition’s call for action at the Council meeting with degrading and condescending statements
concerning any alternative views we and many concerned residents will watch the meeting rather than attend and
suffer harassment if not more.
