Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Greetings Madam Mayor and Council members: Please keep Item 6d on the Consent Agenda, and consider the following: 1. You know this: This project was settled through a robust democratic process over many (too many?) years. The time for modification of plan or change in need to fund is behind us. Let's get this done, now. 2. You know this: It's inappropriate to politicize the project now, so please discount the contrary rhetoric. And if further confirmation of the need to move this project forward is needed, please consider: 1. As with the formerly Bill Roalman Bike Boulevard, now 'Bill Roalman' Neighborhood Greenway, people will get accustomed to and even realize the benefits of a quieter street and enhanced property values that neighborhood cycling and walking bring demonstrably nationwide. 2. Our next generation of roadway users is NOW. We need streets that encourage and enable non-motor vehicle use, whether fossil fuel or electric, for individual and community health. 3. Furthermore, this is not about robust cycling. This is about those who would take up alternative (and make it mainstream) transportation IF comfortably SAFE. Forget not that walking is a major part of that (and the larger part of this project's budget). More people will walk on streets without the proximity of rushing automobiles, leaving their automobiles in their garages. 4. You're going to have to disappoint somebody anyway, why not the minority? Gary Havas, not at his laptop. 805-458-0755 Wherever you go, please get there safely! 1
