Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ Dear Mayor and Council, I am a resident of Anholm and a member of the SLO Bicycle Club (SLOBC). I agree with my friend and fellow club member Stu Goldenberg, who wrote to you, saying: "There is nothing you can do to make the section of Chorro better for bicycles. You can spend a lot of money trying.” I urge you to instead consider making my own Lincoln Street the designated northbound bike route from downtown. It has good visibility, less traffic, and no stop signs (unlike Chorro). I welcome more cyclists on my wide, tree-lined street - commuters, recreational riders like myself, and children. I could not say that if I lived on Chorro Street. I would worry about pulling out of my driveway and accidentally hitting a careless commuter or, worse, a child. Please save your $6 million. Try a simple solution first. Put a sign and a few arrows to designate Lincoln Street for the northbound route. Simple and cheap. I can’t hurt and I believe it will prevent the accidents that would likely occur with a two-way cycle track on narrow, busy Chorro Street. I also ask you to please regard the input from residents of Anholm over those in the countycycling groups who claim to know better than those who live in the area. In previous forums, I’ve heard well-meaning people speak with ignorance of the practicalities. They passionately support expensive fixes that are less safe than the easier solutions.
