Greetings Council Members,
I would like to voice my support FOR the North Chorro Neighborhood Greenway project as it was already planned and
approved. I understand costs have increased, as they have everywhere since COVID! I hope this doesn’t derail all of the time
and energy that has already been put into planning this project. It is not worth risking the grant money already allocated to
this project by cancelling or delaying it to go back to the drawing board. This community can afford these changes via the
proposed alternative sources of funds, and what better way to spend our tax dollars than helping to make our beautiful city
more accessible to all pedestrians and bikers, more safe for those choosing alternative clean modes of transportation, more
vibrant and cultured with public art.
Alternative clean methods of transportation are an important part of reducing carbon emissions that contribute to climate
change, and contribute to air and noise pollution. Let’s encourage more people of all ages to get out of their cars whenever
possible by walking and biking through town using safe methods on well-lit ADA compliant sidewalks and dedicated bike
lanes. How many more bikers need to be killed in this town due to a lack of safe bike space on the roads before we do
something to improve the streets for riders?
North Chorro is a main thoroughfare between Cal Poly and downtown where so many students opt to ride or walk, and is an
important connection between the entire North end of SLO and the rest of the city. This is an important enhancement to our
city infrastructure, is forward thinking, and is a good plan.
PLEASE VOTE YES TO APPROVE THIS PROJECT!
Thank you for your time,
