CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of the Council Compensation Committee was called to order on Monday,
December 16, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. in the Human Resource Conference Room, located at
990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, California, by Chair Ewan.

PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no members of the public desiring to speak.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER MULLIN, SECOND BY COMMITTEE MEMBER
TASSEFF, CARRIED 4-0, to approve the Council Compensation Committee Minutes of
November 21, 2013.
DISCUSSION OF QUESTIONNAIRE FOR FORMER COUNCIL MEMBERS, PLANNING
COMMISSIONERS, AND ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSIONERS
City Clerk Mejia distributed proposed inquiries submitted by Committee Members for
inclusion in the questionnaire. Hard copies of the distributed document are on file with the
City Clerk.

The Committee evaluated and discussed each submitted inquiry and provided direction as
appropriate. Following discussion, City Clerk Mejia summarized the direction provided by
the committee and the final questionnaire is attached for reference.
The Committee requested that staff include a prepaid return envelope with questionnaire.
Following discussion, MOTION BY COMMITTEE MEMBER TASSEFF, SECOND BY
COMMITTEE MEMBER NELSON, CARRIED 4-0, to approve the questionnaire to
former Council Members and Planning and Architectural Review Commissioners .
DISCUSSION OF MAYORAL AND COUNCIL RESPONSIBILITIES
By unanimous consent, the Committee received and filed the Mayoral and Council
responsibilities summary.
SCHEDULE OF FUTURE MEETING DATES
The Committee requested that staff forward the results of the 2006 and 2008 Council
Compensation Survey and the results of the new questionnaire and survey be
forwarded as they become available. The Committee agreed to schedule its next
meeting for Monday, February 24, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:22 p.m.

Committee, former Council Members and Mayors are being requested to complete
this questionnaire and return it to the City Clerk’s Office by January 17, 2014. Please
note that this is a public document and all responses are voluntary. For your
