Dear Julio Quair: The City of San Luis Obispo has determined that a project application is complete for 1911 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, French Hospital Expansion Project: Primary Location: 1911 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (APN 003-568- 004, 003-568-005, 003-571-025, 003-578-026, 003-578-063, and 003-578-057) Tree Trimming and Removal: APN 003-568-004, APN 003-578-063, APN 003-578-046 Off-site Parking: 2075 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (APN 003-682-044) Below please find a description of the proposed project, a map showing the project location, and the name of our project point of contact, pursuant to PRC § 21080.3.1 (d). Description of the Proposed Project: The City of San Luis Obispo is preparing environmental documentation for the proposed French Hospital Expansion Project. The proposed project consists of the phased expansion of the French Hospital Medical Center campus including the construction of a two-level, 234-space parking structure with 5,800 square feet of future lab and storage space and a 2,000-square-foot helistop Phase 1), and a four-story 89,775-square-foot patient tower, a 1,800-square-foot generator yard, and various site improvements (Phase 2). The proposed patient tower would include, but not be limited to, 82 patient and neonatal intensive care rooms, dining and kitchen facilities, staff break rooms, waiting rooms, and medical imaging rooms. The project includes the reconfiguration of surface parking, addition of bicycle parking spaces, realignment of an existing bicycle path and associated open space easement, tree removal and trimming on- and off-site, landscaping, and exterior lighting. The project also includes the merging of Assessor Parcel Number (APN) 003- 568-004 (Parcel 2), APN 003-578-026 (Parcel 3), and a portion of APN 003-578-063 (Parcel 6) to form one approximately 14-acre parcel (Project Site). Project construction would include the export of 3,260 cubic yards of soil, and the import of 2,370 cubic yards of soil. Construction is anticipated to last approximately three years.
