This should go to all council members plus whoever else may be concerned. 1 April 3, 2023 My original intent was to resubmit my memo to the planning committee from 1/24/2023 with perhaps more clarification. Then along comes the lawyer letter and changes that plan. I have read over this letter several times trying to understand the rational for it. I have had my suspicions before, but it finally dawned on me why this bridge and plan was so important. The bridge isn’t going over the stream and right-of-way; it’s going to go in the stream interfering with the flow of water down from above. The 35% of their lot that will become accessible is now a swamp. This area is built on hills; my lot (61) has at least 35% inaccessible area, as do many others in this subdivision. I can count 4 properties from my driveway to the north side of Twin Ridge Dr that have similar issues. Points to Ponder 1. Why is this particular lot so desirable for a “forever” home. There are many more attractive homesites in SLO. 2. I have measured 50 inches of rain that have fallen on my lot this year; 3 before Dec; 15 in Dec; 13 in Jan; 6 in Feb and 13 in Mar. It’s a swamp. 3. The “comps” as suggested by the lawyer are in fact not comparable (as he notes) at all and should be totally disregarded. 4. I have a niece and other relatives in Germany who is finding it very difficult to exchange Euro dollars for US dollars. Is that what this is really about? 5. The amount of dirt to be rearranged and/or brought in to make this a feasible proposition seems staggering and impractical unless money is no object. 6. The argument that the impact on the wildlife is inaccurate. The animals will no longer have routes to the area. They simply won’t come. 7. How many students can legally be housed in 5825+sq ft,… 8/10?? More? 8. One way to get Euro dollars out and into the US is to buy/build income property here and use those US dollars to buy other things like a more practical “forever” home. Paul L Fasching and Martha M Fasching January 24, 2023 My wife and I oppose the project proposed for 841 Patricia. We have lived at 271 Twin Ridge Dr since 1996. In that time, we have seen numerous quail, turkeys and deer migrate regularly from the stream behind our home to and through our backyard and over our house. The bridge and ADU portion of this project especially seem to be in direct contradiction to the often-stated objectives of the city for open space land use. Granted this is only a small parcel but it is an important parcel of land as an extension to the Creek above it. The proposed house that is included is also not in keeping with th e scale of other homes in the neighborhood. Consequently, we hope that all aspects of this project be rejected and the proposal be denied and the recommendations of the planning staff be adopted. Paul L Fasching and Martha M Fasching
