Subject:Item 6a, 841 Patricia Drive Appeal

Dear Mayor Stewart and Members of the Council,
The appeal before you is a request for a Creek Setback Exception to build a bridge across Twin Ridge Creek
through the Wildlife Corridor.
In a recent letter from the attorney representing the owners of 841 Patricia Drive, the argument was made that
three houses in the city have bridges across creeks. These are examples of houses built years ago that were
not permitted under current City standards and would not be consistent with our City’s Adopted General
Plan. Obviously current City standards are more protective of creeks, wildlife and their habitats than standards
adopted years ago.
This is not a request to develop a normal lot. This lot is highly unique, specifically because Twin Ridge
Creek flows through this property.
This lot contains an identified “WILDLIFE CORRIDOR” as shown in The City’s 2006 General Plan,
Conservation & Open Space Element.
This lot has no street frontage and is surrounded and adjacent to existing homes on significantly
smaller lots in an established neighborhood.
Twin Ridge Creek uniquely cuts through this lot, dividing it into two sections: a larger “building pad” and
a very much smaller “remainder area” on the other side of the creek.
We urge you to deny the appeal and uphold the Planning Commission's decision.
Sincerely,
Jim and Kathy apRoberts
251 Twin Ridge Drive
