Dear Mayor & City Council people:
I presume by now you have read or perused the 800 pg. technical document which is being referred to as the Final EIR
concerning the Freshmen Dorms at Cal Poly. A more dismissive document I've never read. Much of it is way beyond my
scope of understanding but the main points come down to very few concessions being made & full speed ahead. It is
still vulnerable on view -shed, design incompatibility with the adjacent neighborhoods, redirected traffic, etc. In other
words, this is the cheapest site for Cal Poly to erect new dorms & tough luck on the neighborhoods that it will be
impacting.
Cal Poly feels that is should not be held accountable for impacting the City's Land Use & Circulation planning! In truth,
Cal Poly IS the responsible agency. They are doing this because they want to, despite the significant impacts to the City.
This FEIR is not compliant with CEQA in regard to analyzing all alternatives, impacts & mitigation options. The City of
SLO needs to make good on its promise & be prepared to litigate! The City needs to support its residents & not bow to
the pressure put on them by CP.
I urge you, as the Chairperson of the Alta Neighborhood Association & all residents, to stand up to this insane proposal
that totally disregards Neighborhood Wellness for all the reasons that we have stated many times before!
