The question is : 1. Could this Property be used by the Police Department? Yes, it could be used by the Police Department for administrative office purposes only. Government offices may include, but not limited to administrative offices, meeting spaces, accessory uses, etc. are allowed by right in the Office (O) zone. A Public Safety Facility which is defined as a facility operated by public agencies including fire stations, other fire prevention and firefighting facilities, police and sheriff substations and headquarters, including interim incarceration facilities- is only allowed in the Public Facility (PF) Zone with Planning Commission approval of a Conditional Use Permit. In the future, the City may pursue rezoning of the property. However, there is no need to rezone the property at this time for it to be used by the City as government offices. In fact, the property presents many opportunities to meet office space needs and programmatic objectives. Staff expects the property to provide for various government office uses in the near term and will begin planning for long-term uses for the building upon the close of escrow. City of San Luis Obispo
