Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear City Council: I am wri?ng to express my strong support for the dedica?on of City funds to help support the much needed maintenance and restora?on of the La Loma Adobe. I live a few blocks from the La Loma Adobe and have watched as the years, the weather and vandals have damaged this important part of our City’s heritage. I have tried to do my part to help by joining the volunteers who do their best to protect this beau?ful adobe and care for its gorgeous garden, but, unfortunately, this adobe will not survive unless the City takes ac?on to preserve La Loma as it did to preserve the Dallidet Adobe. If you are not sure if funding should be allocated to preserve the La Loma Adobe, I would encourage you to visit the Dallidet Adobe because it is obvious in hindsight that the preserva?on of the Dallidet Adobe was the right thing to do as it allows our community to have a greater understanding of who came before us. Preserva?on of the La Loma Adobe will similarly be viewed in the future as an important portal to our past. As Robert Penn Warren said: “History cannot give us a program for the future, but it can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves, and of our common humanity, so that we can be?er face the future." Thank you for your considera?on. Sincerely, Kathryn M.
