Another disturbing thing that has happened is that we have had to file with 'Jashington a list of all stock and unassigned fire apparatus units, and this will affect the stand- by unit you have. In other words, the object of this regis- tration with Washington no doubt is that they intend to purchase all of these fire engines for immediate delivery. While we have promised to the City of San Luis Obispo this stand-by unit Pending delivery of the new fire truck, i;110 c is of course notbini4 that wr carp do abotyt tt, if the government exercises their right to buy up all stock and un- assigned fire trucks. `_Whim would leave San Luis Obispo without adequate protection, until the arrival of the new truck, which is going to be some months in the future. The scene changes so rapidly these days =.,-gat it is ha0d to '&eep up. but I wanted to advise You ' of the RbOv'- , so that you will at 'xeast have knowledge of what is taking place. Inasmuch as the City of San Luia Obispo Is de j'initn ).y going; to need further fire nppnratus equipment, wIth doliverie s on new vehicles so far in the t uture; p7.us the fRat that tr»i stanCi_by truck nuw in servl.ce has 0-morgtr. aced itself to be all that we said it was eint7 1.8 e:om-p: _ete with a new truck guarantee; and in order to seuuz}e this piece of egiil- ament so trtat 'It cannot be removed thus securing the eittz, ens 00 rIan LVA3 ❑lAsPn st.sirnt being sgain without ade;quAte and mods-rn fire fighting egvi?ment, I aTa wondering if ynu do not feel vnu wont to take it unor_ your - am to secure this et}irsae.nt. T cam sill^e a aat;isf'setorr Lerxse e could be worked out wits, small paymcnta for tb, first tvn yeas,; (until the other truck is paid for) and then larger payments and third and fourth years if necessary. I would very gipd to drop up an4 see you if you want to discuss this further; however, T do want to suggest that some immediate action should be tobnn in order to secure the City, as kbove'outlinod. I do not believe the Company would be willing; to drop the price on this truck much bel-ow what has already been quoted yau, but this Is readily understsnda';Ae in view of the probable sale to the Government; however', if you care to submit an offer I wi13 take it up with tread office. and see that it gets the best possible consideration. I wish to take this opportunity of thanking you for your courteous treattnent of the Writer during our negotiatons on this fire truck purchase, and trust that I may serve you further. Sincerely yours, AG 4 , 7 VTV S oN pacific Coast Territory. R.W.Cornell/P.
