Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear San Luis Obispo City Council, My name is Andre King and I am a second-year political science major at Cal Poly. For the past two or three months my roommates and I have been applying to nearly every home in which we are applicable. On top of the 24+ units I am taking in order to better my education, I now spend countless hours of my freetime filling out paperwork and running through my grocery funds on application fees. For the 10+ houses we have already been denied, I am thankful because if we were to have a successful bid, I don’t know how I could afford the monthly charges. Working a second job or taking out another loan would be a simple solution for my flexible schedule. If I was unable to obtain a house, living out of my car would be a viable option. Though my hygiene, sleep schedule, and success in the classroom would be kicked to the curb, I would have all of my belongings on the go! So if the city of San Luis Obispo does not consider the options of rent control, feel free to give me a smile and possibly some spare change as a car wash could soon be my home’s spring cleaning. Sincerely, Andre King 1
