Thank you for the explanation Jan. However, my email WAS sent to the city clerk as well as to the
council, but it was not posted, which is the reason I raised the issue. The only correspondence from
the public posted as of Saturday night were the two you forwarded. So ...

When an email includes the city clerk, he posts it as agenda correspondence. When an email is addressed only to city
council and pertains to an upcoming or past agenda item, I forward it as agenda correspondence. Council has asked me
to take on this clerical task, rather than having all five of us forward it to the city clerk. This Council is the first to require
that agenda correspondence is posted on the city website.

Subject: Council Correspondence
Dear Council Members,
I have a question about what gets posted on the "agenda correspondence" website, and what
doesn't.
In looking at this week's council correspondence, I see very little from the public. There are numerous
corrections from staff of errors in the agenda packet (but those barely scratch the surface of the
errors even a cursory reading turns up -- I am stunned at the carelessness of your staff! And that you
do nothing about it.). But there are only two letters from the public, both of which were put there by
directive of the mayor.
Is this how letters from the public get posted -- only at the mayor's directive?
If that's not the exclusive way, then why aren't ALL letters received posted as they come in? I know
there are others you've been sent this week -- including my own regarding the marijuana fiasco,
whose sending predated the times of the mayor's two requests.
So what's going on here? Is the council trying to keep the public in the dark, is staff trying to keep the
public in the dark? Or is this just another example among the ridiculous number of staff screwups?
